How We Create Article

Recently I was interviewed for an online industry publication doing great things for designer manufacturer relations in Australia, read the full article here.
Through regular project work Earl Pinto has found clients are looking to specify the kind of Australian-made hand-crafted products in their quintessential style.

Often a happy accident leads to the development of a best-selling piece. “The Leaf light (developed out of a much larger orb-like design) was just sitting on the ground, and one of our customers said they loved it. Now that simple Leaf light is one of our biggest sellers.”

Earl Pinto continues to produce all their products from their Melbourne headquarters – “even our metal lighting component fittings and frames” – with a view to outsourcing the production of certain components to other local manufacturing houses.

"A strength of our business has been developing prototype components with local knowledge and that’s something we will continue to do,” says Lewis.
You can find popular Earl Pinto products, including the Kink stool Anise light and more at Soto Dining Room, 24 Moons, San Churro and Guavabean.

People in my neighbourhood - Charlotte Swiden

Charlotte Swiden is the creator of Swiden and has the BEST looking office. It’s a space that is comfortable and impecibly organised. I like walking past and taking a peek at what ever interesting thing is happening in there that day, so thank you Charlotte.
You can see the latest news from her news page here, I especially like that Charlotte shared some very special thoughts on her fiancee Clem Stamation’s animation, you can watch it here.

People in my neighbourhood - James Hargraves

James Hargraves is a multi faceted designer practicing out of a studio in Collingwood.
Ever generous with his insights into the lighting practice, I stopped James in the hall to get a better look at one of his latest creations made from posters… James also exhibited with me at the 2011 Fringe Furniture exhibition at the Abbotsford Convent. Images curtsey of a polite hallway exchange between James and myself.
